Clinical activity with social aims

The initiatives for the ICP social aims stem from, historically speaking, crisis situations which see a broad range of people in a state of severe financial uncertainty. Many people today can neither make use of public psychotherapy services – often depleted and understaffed – nor afford to pay for private therapy at the current rates. Those who, after all, work in aid contexts cannot set aside the ethical, political and social considerations that are entailed in easing the discomfort of those who suffer, without being financially discriminating. With this in mind, over recent years we have put into place certain initiatives which move in this direction: making a professional consultancy possible even for those who, for whatever reason, do not have the financial resources to afford one.

The Constructivist Psychotherapy Centre (CPC) is reserved for people in financial difficulty. In the Centre psychotherapists and students of the third and fourth years of our School, under clinical supervision, work for free.

The CPC was born in 2008 with the idea of completing the structure of our School, providing our students – beyond the curricular training – with the ability to carry out qualified clinical activity in a way that protects both them and their patients.

The CPC – coordinated by Dr. Chiara Lui –provides services in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, and research is carried out in these fields. Working there, as already mentioned, are pyschotherapists and postgraduate students (3rd and 4th year) of our School which are already professionally registered, and under supervision.

The CPC ensures, as a primary and fundamental initiative, that people who are in need of pyschological help or a course of therapy, but are not able to afford it, may access the service with a contribution not higher than ten euros a session.

The Centre is located at the Institute of Contructivist Pyschology in via Martiri della Libertà 13, Padova.

A voicemail service can be reached at the number 049 657712, and every Thursday from 4-6pm you can speak directly to an operator.

The Let's Save Othello Project, organised in collaboration with the Foresta Foundation, provides for the implementation of support groups for men who express their anger through the use of physical and/or psychlogical violence in their close relationships. Read more
