"Mom, I have stomachache, I can't go to school"

On Thursday 5th October 2017, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Francesca Del Rizzo e Chiara Centomo will led the free workshop:

"Mom, I have stomachache, I can't go to school"

"There is nothing wrong with you, come on!" retort his mom, asking herself if it is the usual excuse in order to stay at home, or perhaps the manifestation of some problem at school. In any case she does not believe in that physical illness too much. However in her son's experience there is no doubt: the stomachache absolutely exists! From a constructivist perspective, how this stomachache and, in general, all those so-called "psychosomatic symptoms" can be seen? If, as Kelly says, every human phenomenon can be construed both psychologically and physiologically, why a person can choose to preemptively construe what she feels as the expression of an organic disease or, on the contrary, embrace a causalistic view between mind and body? Can PCP guide us through these questions in clinical practice? Can metaphors help us to surf among apparently incompatible constructions?

Francesca Del Rizzo, teacher and supervisor of the ICP School of Constructivist Psychology; Chiara Centomo, Psychologist and Psychotherapist.

The workshop will be held at our School, via Martiri della Libertà 13 – Padova. The admission is free but reservation is required (tel. 0498751669; email scuola@icp-italia.it).

Please note the workshop is only in Italian
